Three
beautifully bred international mares in foal to the champion Danehill will
attract plenty of attention at next week’s Magic Millions National Broodmare
Sale on the Gold Coast.
The three lots give breeders the rare opportunity to buy a regally bred
international mare who’s been served by the champion Danehill, a sire who’s
now no longer shuttling to the Southern Hemisphere.
Not only are the mares served by a champion, but they are all by champions and
have a black type packed female family to back it up.
Coolmore Stud will offer one of the trio, while the remaining two lots have been
consigned by Collingrove Stud.
The first of the offerings (lot 776) is the Zafonic mare Gazette. A half sister
to the French stakes winners Lynton and Battle Dore, Gazette was placed up to
2350 metres on the track during a short career in France. To date Gazette has
only produced one live foal and the offering gives local breeders a great
opportunity to buy a young international mare for the future seasons.
Silken Whisper (lot 777) is the first of two mares from Collingrove in foal to
the champion Danehill. A winning daughter of the champion sire Diesis, Silken
Whisper is from a stakes winning Green Dancer half sister to Professor Rabbit,
Rilial and Whidah. The Danehill covering is the mare’s first at stud.
The final mare (lot 778) is the sensationally bred Sorb Apple. Another offering
from Collingrove Stud, the mare is from the four time Group One placed Busted
mare Sorbus and is a half sister to stakes stars Captivator, Klarifi, Bahamian
(dam of a G1 Oaks winner), Kasmayo and a full sister to the Oaks placed and
stakes winning Eileen Jenny. Sorb Apple is by the champion sire Kris, who’s
broodmares have produced the likes of Okawango, Rose Gypsy, Invincible Spirit,
Continent and Catella.
The three mares are being sold under quarantine conditions and can be inspected
in Barn T at the complex.
