 57. Clang to remain at Willowbend

15/05/2003

Willowbend Stud studmaster David Lucas has confirmed that this weeks meeting of shareholders in the stud's star stallion Clang (H 1993 Bellotto-Sudden Impulse) has knocked back an offer of $5 million for Clang.

The offer had been made by Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley Stud on the strength of Clang’s two Group One winners Calaway Gal (Golden Slipper) and Clangalang (AJC Australian Derby)which both came from Clang's second crop.

Lucas said “I received a phone call after the meeting and was told that Clang would be remaining at Willowbend. He can earn that sort of money in a few seasons on his current service fee and of course if things keep going well there is always the option of an increase in his fee down the track.”
