The
success of yesterday’s Magic Millions National Yearling Sale continued through
to today’s Weanling Sale with strong selling throughout the entire session on
the Gold Coast.
A new record gross for the Weanling Sale was achieved when the sale concluded
with a total of 181 youngsters selling for a total of $2,025,450 at an average
price of $11,190.
The most pleasing aspect of the sale was the amazingly highly selling rate of
86.19 per cent. The top price of $110,000 was received for a beautifully bred
daughter of the former brilliant galloper Redoute’s Choice.
“Vendors and buyers should both be congratulated on a really strong sale
today,” Magic Millions’ Managing Director David Chester commented. “The
clearance rate was brilliant, about 13% higher than a similar sale in Sydney
last week.”
“The quality weanlings today sold extremely well,” Chester said. “Buyers
had the ability to take their pick from a wide range of youngsters on offer.”
Buyers today included Aquanita Racing, Vin Cox, Heinrich Bloodstock, Kieran
Moore, Paul Willetts, John Chalmersand leading breeding farms Kambula Stud, Mane
Lodge, Lakewood Stud, Gainsborough Lodge, Torryburn Stud and Vincent Park Stud.
Meanwhile, Chester is looking forward to tomorrow’s first session of the Magic
Millions National Broodmare Sale. The sale was strongly supported by the
country’s leading vendors and a quality catalogue has been assembled.
“We have some magnificent mares going under the hammer here tomorrow,”
Chester reported. “And breeders will get the opportunity to buy the broodmare
of their dreams over the sale.”
REDOUTE’S WELL BRED FILLY THE TOP LOT
Danehill’s former brilliant galloping son Redoute’s Choice added another
accolade to his career resume when he provided the sale topper at today’s
Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast.
Offered by Pine Lodge Thoroughbreds (as agent), the weanling catalogued as lot
429 was a bay filly by the four time Group One winner and earner of over $1.5
million.
A half sister to the Sydney stakes winner Poppett, the filly is from the family
of proven Group One stars All Our Mob, All Time High, Group winner All Archie
and stakes performers All Sold, All Stormy and All Mighty Prince.
Bidding for the filly kicked off at $50,000 and rose in $10,000 increments to
$80,000 before another six bids of $5,000. The final bid was provided by
Toowoomba based Geoff Warfield.
One other weanling by Redoute’s Choice was sold today. A brown filly by the
former track star was knocked down to local buyer Elio Morabito for $25,000.
His only other youngster offered during today’s session, a filly from
Montreuil, was passed for $65,000. She had an $80,000 reserve.
Fans of Redoute’s Choice will be delighted to understand he has served a
