May, on site at Milluna Stud, One Tree Hill, South Australia William Inglis and
Son are proud to be conducting the Milluna Stud Dispersal, featuring 125
broodmares, weanlings and racehorses. Milluna Stud was established by Jim
O’Connor, who at age 75 has reluctantly decided that it’s time to retire
from running a commercial stud operation.
Milluna Stud has enjoyed much success over the years with stallions such as Red
Rumour (USA) and Exalt (GB) paving the way for Twig Moss (FR), who went on to
become Australia’s leading stallion twice during the mid eighties. Exciting
young sire Made of Gold (USA) is another Milluna Stud success story and the
dispersal features nine of his weanlings, as well as half a dozen broodmares by
him.
Weanlings on offer include: a half-brother to Group Three winner Mint of Gold,
by the well regarded first season horse King’s Best (USA); a full sister to
brilliant mare Cosmic Strike, winner of the VRC Gilgai Stakes Gr 3 and third in
last year’s VRC Salinger Stakes Gr 1; half-brothers to Group Two winner
Pennyweight Point and Group Three winner Gold Crystal by Saratoga Springs (Can);
a General Monash (USA) colt from stakes-winner Angel’s Jewel; and a filly by
Gilded Time (USA) from stakes-winner It’s a Miracle.
Highlights among the broodmares include: the dams of stakes-winners Pennyweight
Point, Gold Crystal, Angel’s Jewel, Cosmic Strike, Mint of Gold; also
stakes-winners Angel’s Jewel and It’s a Miracle.
Other well related mares include: Champagne Mist, a sister to stakes-winner In
The Mist and Southern Sprinter, the dam of this season’s stakes-winning
juvenile Fragmentation; Gourmet Star, a half-sister to Shirazamatazz, recent
winner of the WATC Derby Gr 1; also two lovely mares in foal to champion
racehorse Testa Rossa – Landgold, a half-sister to Group One winner Minegold
and Peaceful (GB), a half-sister to European stakes-winners Bezelle, Iftiraas.
