They will feature 348 quality yearlings by a wide range of popular sires such as
Bianconi (USA), Bubble Gum Fellow (Jap), Canny Lad, Danehill Dancer (IRE),
Danzero, Desert Prince (IRE), El Moxie (USA), Encosta de Lago, Fasliyev (USA),
Favorite Trick (USA), General Nediym, Grand Lodge (USA), Hurricane Sky, Last
Tycoon (IRE), Octagonal (NZ), Perugino (USA), Quest for Fame (GB), Rubiton,

The Autumn Yearling Sale has long been regarded as a popular destination for
bargain hunters and with an average price of about $10,000 there are
opportunities galore. The majority of yearlings are SuperVOBIS qualified and all
horses purchased will be eligible to compete in the $1million Heroic
Championship and $500,000 Inglis Premier Race.
Sale highlights include: a half-sister by Thunder Gulch (USA) to outstanding
galloper Brave Chief (Lot 151), winner of the VATC Sandown Classic Gr 2; a
Fasliyev (USA) colt from Ascorbic (Lot 152), winner of the VRC Edward Manifold
Stakes Gr 2; a Hurricane Sky filly from stakes-winner Falcon Walk (Lot 237);
also siblings to stakes-performers Kaemess, Toll Bell, Small Town Boy, Pindi
Ridge, Glacier Bay, etc.
Sure to be popular at this year’s sale will be a draft of 20 yearlings from
the famed Woodlands Stud nursery. The selection includes: a three-quarter
brother-in-blood to stakes-winner Greeting, by Canny Lad from Neutral (Lot 5); a
half-sister (Lot 69) to stakes-placed sprinter Barnacles, by Quest for Fame (GB)
from Senlis (NZ); a half-brother to stakes-placed Effervescence (Lot 86), by
Quest for Fame (GB) from Social Whirl; and a colt by Commands from Tendrils (Lot
109), winner of the SAJC Dequetteville Stakes L.
One immediate update since the catalogue went to print is for Lot 82, a chestnut
colt by Distorted Humor (USA) from Slashing Sort. The two year old half-sister
to this colt is Swinging Babe, who turned in a promising debut effort when
second in the VRC Waltzing Lily Quality L last Wednesday.
Another to receive an important update is Lot 171, a filly by Weasel Clause from
Bona Omina. She is a half-sister to stakes-winning Tasmanian juvenile Fine
Omens, winner of the TRC Elwick Stakes L.
