A
full sister to exciting juvenile Subscribe is listed for the Australian Easter
Yearling Sale in April, providing she is not sold beforehand.
An offer of $1.1 million for the Zabeel filly was tabled by Arab interests,
believed to be Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley Stud, in the wake of Subscribe’s win
at Caulfield on March 1.
The filly has been consigned to the Easter sale by Coolmore Australia as agent
for a WA syndicate led by prominent owner Keith Biggs.
The filly is the second foal of Danehill’s outstanding daughter Danelagh,
winner of the 1998 Blue Diamond Stakes.
Danelagh was also an Easter Yearling Sale graduate, being retained by Keith
Biggs in 1997 after she fell $10,000 short of her reserve price of $200,000.
Biggs and his partners bred Subscribe and his yearling sister before they sold
Danelagh to Darley Australia last year for $1.2 million.
Danehill broodmares are really starting to make their mark.
Apart from Subscribe, the great stallion is also the broodmare sire of G3
Clissold Stakes winner Gordo and Mr Trickster, who upset the great Northerly in
the Victoria Gold Cup (LR) on March 1.
Danehill’s daughters are responsible for 19 entries for the Easter sale
including the outstanding pair Compulsion and Rose O’War, who will be
represented by fillies by Red Ransom.
Bold Promise’s daughter Compulsion sold for $490,000 at the 1997 Easter sale
and Rose O’War, daughter of Savana City, went for $480,000 at the same sale.
Compulsion won G3 Blue Diamond Preview while Rose O’War claimed the scalp of
Sunline as a three year old in the G3 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield.
Mr Trickster’s dam Lady Danette will also be represented at Easter by a Fuji
Kiseki filly.
There are also nine yearlings out of Zabeel mares in the Easter catalogue
including the Danehill colt form Champgane.
