 7. Argentine Champion To Stand In Queensland

01/03/2003

Queensland’s Wattle Brae Stud will has acquired Southern Halo’s champion Argentine sprinter Taimazov for stud duty.

Taimazov raced 28 times for eight wins, six seconds and two thirds, his most notable victory being in the G1 Carrera de las Estrellas on turf in the sizzling time of 55.03 seconds for the 1000 metre journey.

Taimazov also won the G1 Gran Premio Suipacha over 1000m in 55.42 seconds and the G2 Classico Pippermint over 1000min 57.29 seconds, further evidence of his brilliance over short courses.

Southern Halo, the sire of more than 30 G1 winners, is also represented at stud in Australia by US G1 winner More Than Ready.

Taimazov traces to the Oaks winner Rose of England and his fourth dam, Galloway Queene is a three-quarter sister to British Empire, winner of the G1 July Stakes, Chesham Stakes and Lavant Stakes as a two-year-old.

British Empire also stood at stud in Argentina where he was twice champion sire and finished in the 10 for 14 consecutive years.

Taimazov’s sister Igreja raced in South Africa where she won the G1 Cape Fillies Guineas.

Taimazov is booked to land in Australia in April and will join G1 winners Easy Rocking and Mr Innocent at Wattle Brae Stud.
