The
other sales have come and gone and now it’s time for the main event, the 2003
San Miguel William Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
With the co-operation and support of our vendors we have a final catalogue of
524 top class youngsters representing the best bloodlines in the world.
Carefully selected progeny of internationally acclaimed stallions, blended with
the very best of the local product, provide buyers with an unprecedented depth
of quality and choice.
The sale features more than 130 yearlings from stakes-winning mares, including
32 from Group One winners. Some of the star matrons with progeny on show
include: Bonanova (filly by Danehill (USA), Burst (colt by Peintre Celebre
(USA)), Cannsea (filly by Danehill (USA)), Champagne (NZ) (colt by Danehill
(USA)), Danelagh (filly by Zabeel), Dantelah (NZ) (filly by Peintre Celebre
(USA)), Dashing Eagle (filly by Zabeel), Foxwood (NZ) (filly by Danehill (USA)),
On Air (filly by Zabeel), Savana City (colt by Danehill (USA)), Special (colt by
Xaar (GB)), Stella Cadente (filly by Red Ransom (USA)), St Clemens Belle (colt
by Grand Lodge (USA)), Tristalove (NZ) (colt by Grand Lodge (USA)).
As we have come to expect at Easter, Black Type families fill the pages.
Residual value is at a premium, with every horse boasting the pedigree to ensure
future stud value and the potential for great financial upside if they meet with
racetrack success.
The catalogue includes siblings to more than 230 stakes-winners including 66
Group One winners. Highlights are many and include: a half-brother to Assertive
Lad and Assertive Lass, by Danehill (USA) from Sommes Sound (USA); a half-sister
to Porto Rocca and Bluebird the Word, by Flying Spur from Antelliere; a
half-brother to Catbird, by Red Ransom (USA) from Fitting; a half-brother to
Fields of Omagh, by Snippets from Finneto; a half-brother to Prowl, by Flying
Spur from Matins (USA); a half-brother to Spinning Hill, by Peintre Celebre
(USA) from Incline; and a half-brother to Testa Rossa, by Redoute’s Choice
from Bo Dapper.
Also full brothers to Melbourne Cup winner Jezabeel, outstanding performers
Laisserfaire, Hill of Grace, Dash for Cash, and a three-quarter brother-in-blood
to Redoute’s Choice and Platinum Scissors, by Danehill (USA) from Show Dancing
(NZ).
While sons of Nureyev are beginning to make an impact in Australia through
horses such as Spinning World (USA), Peintre Celebre (USA) and highly regarded
newcomer Fasliyev (USA), opportunites to buy yearlings by Nureyev himself are
now limited.
The great horse passed away in October of 2001and his foal crop from that year
numbered just 16. Four were bred to Southern Hemisphere time and have found
their way to Easter highlighted by the colt from One Life (USA) who ranks as a
three-quarter brother-in-blood to champion racemare and producer Miesque.
No preview would be complete without touching on Sunday Silence and we have
three superb yearlings by this celebrated stallion. His sad demise last year can
only enhance their value and interested parties will need deep pockets to leave
Newmarket with one of the trio: a filly from the Danehill (USA) mare
Felicitation, a daughter of Emancipation; a half-sister to English Group Three
winner Systematic, from stakes-winning mare Sensation (GB); and a spectacular
colt from the Mr Prospector mare Phantom Creek (USA), a half-sister to champion
two year old Arazi.
