Some
startling statistics have been presented with the launch of the catalogue for
next month’s Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney.
The final catalogue of 524 youngsters contains more than 130 yearlings from
stakeswinning mares, including 32 from Group One winners.
Some of the star dams include Bonanova, Burst,, Cannsea, Champagne, Danelagh,
Dantelah, Danglissa, Dashing Eagle, Foxwood, Lady Jakeo, On Air, Popsy, Rose
O’War, Savana City, Special, Stella Cadente, St Clemens Belle and Tristalove.
The catalogue includes siblings to more than 230 stakeswinners including 66
Group One winners.
Highlights include a half-brother to Assertive Lad and Assertive Lass;
half-sister to Porto Rocca and Bluebird the Word; half brother to Catbird;
half-brother to Fields of Omagh; half-brother to Prowl; half-brother to Spinning
Hill; half-brother to Testa Rossa; full brothers to er Jezabeel, Laisserfaire,
Hill of Grace, Dash for Cash; and a three-quarter brother-in-blood to
Redoute’s Choice and Platinum Scissors.
The catalogue also contains yearlings bred to southern hemisphere time by the
great sires Nureyev and Sunday Silence, stallions that sadly passed away in the
last 18 months.
Nureyev passed away in October of 2001and his foal crop from that year numbered
just 16.
Four were bred to Southern Hemisphere time and will be offered at the Easter
sale including a three-quarter brother-in-blood to champion racemare and
producer Miesque.
The sad demise last year of the celebrated Sunday Silence seems certain to see
his there yearlings compete for top price honours.
They are a filly from the Danehill mare Felicitation, a daughter of
Emancipation; a half-sister to English G3 winner Systematic from stakes-winning
mare Sensation; and a colt from the Mr Prospector mare Phantom Creek, a
half-sister to champion two year old Arazi.
