 9. Inspired Rory's a siring superstar

10/6/2003

The amazing season for champion Collingrove Stud based sire Rory’s Jester continued at Eagle Farm on Monday when Inspire scored a runaway win in the listed Marco Polo Handicap (1600m).

Trained by Rosehill based horseman Clarry Conners, Inspire had already proven himself at Group level in Melbourne and sent his prizemoney soaring to over $300,000 with his win over last start stakes winner Warrior Trader.

Inspire, a $50,000 graduate from the 1999 Magic Millions January Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, was sold under the Collingrove Stud banner as a yearling.
Conners, who was a Group One winner on the previous weekend in Brisbane, said he was very much looking forward to getting the five-year-old back to Melbourne.

“He always runs so well down there,” Conners said of the multiple Melbourne Cup Carnival winner.

Rory’s Jester, a former outstanding galloper and Group One Golden Slipper winner, has had another top season.

His progeny have won a number of feature races. Star performers for the flashy chestnut sire include Golden Slipper placegetter How Funny (stakes winner this season), North Boy (Group One placed international star), Toast of the Coast (Group Two winner),
Over past seasons the Champion Two-Year-Old on the track has been represented by star Group winners including Isca, Racer’s Edge, Chortle, Aragen, Moss Rocket, Catnipped, Spargo, Light Up the World, Time Out, Happy Giggle and Speed Week.

Rory’s Jester is the sire of no less than 543 winners. Of this some 70 have won stakes races. Overall he has 134 stakes performers. His progeny earnings have now soared to over $35.5 million. Three quarters of Rory’s progeny win on the track!

The grand man of Australian breeding is also now hitting the headlines as a leading broodmare sire. His daughters have produced a number of stakes horses including Chuckle, Living Spirit, All the Chat, Rockabubble, Vargna, Spellmaker, Troubador, Minerva, All Classic, Fracas, Rosarino, Ultimate Fever, Natural Is My Name, The Expat, Consular, Hanky Panky, In Top Swing, Roralism, Close Encounter and Innocent Laughter.
Rory’s Jester will be standing for $27,500 (inc GST) at Collingrove Victoria. He will be serving a strictly limited book.
