Anabaa (USA) continues to sweep all before him in Hong Kong this season with
Group One International Cup winner Precision defying Australian-bred Elegant
Fashion in the Group One ING Hong Kong Champions & Chater Cup, the final
Group One race for the season at Sha Tin.
With earnings of more than A$5.1 million and five wins, Precision has ensured
that successive Horse of the Year honours are by no means a fait accompli for
the John Size-trained Electric Unicorn.
Precision defeated an all-star field including Paolini, Sarafan and Grandera
on International day last December and repeated the dose on Sunday when he
combined with jockey Brett Prebble for a stunning victory over 2400 metres after
backing up in successive weeks. “Despite having a hard race last Saturday, he
was almost at the identical body weight today - that shows you how tough he
is," said Oughton. "We had always planned this to be his end-of-season
race and I didn't have any real problem about his ability to get the trip."
Prebble settled the gutsy French-bred grey about eight lengths off a steady
tempo before creeping closer rounding the home turn. "I felt very confident
once we straightened up. He really let down and showed a lot of guts. I always
felt we would hold Elegant Fashion," said Prebble.
Oughton said Precision had struck himself winning the Hong Kong Cup in December
and had taken time to recover fully. "He will come back into training in
late August and he will be entered for the Hong Kong Vase and the Hong Kong Cup
next season," he added.
