A colt by the successful international sire Grand Lodge topped today’s Magic
Millions Perth Mixed Thoroughbred Sale at Belmont.
Offered by Applecross based Pine Brook Stud, the chestnut colt was knocked down
to Magic Millions, who were acting as an agent for a Malaysian client, for
$40,000.
From the family of proven Group One winners including Aerosmith and the
globetrotting Belle Du Jour, the colt was the subject of strong bidding before
being sold.
A total of 174 horses were sold during today’s sale. An overall gross of
$431,200 was reached with an average price of $2,478.
Magic Millions Managing Director said one of the most pleasing aspects of
today’s sale was the impressively high clearance rate – which like last
Friday’s Gold Coast Monthly Sale bucked the trends of other similar sales
around Australia this year.
“Like our Monthly Sale on the Gold Coast on Friday we have seen extremely
positive selling during today’s sale,” Chester reported from Perth. “To
sell over 86 per cent of the offering at any sale is fantastic.”
Other strong sales today included the well bred broodmare Lady Clara, who was
positive to Snippets’ young siring son Akhenaton. A full sister to the top
Perth galloper Master Park, Lady Clara was sold for $27,000.
Two of the final youngsters by the ill fated Serheed also proved popular. A colt
from Dance Spirit was knocked down to a South Australian client for $21,000,
while a colt from Straight Answer fell to local buyer Russell Clarke for
$18,500.
“There was truly something there for everyone today,” Chester continued.
“And buyers at the sale are sure to be rewarded in the future for their good
value purchases.”
