The persistent rumours of last week have been confirmed: global breeding giant Coolmore has purchased European champion sprinter-elect Choisir.
The Australian-bred son of Danehill Dancer will begin his stud career at Coolmore’s Hunter Valley property in September. "We are absolutely thrilled to have been able to buy Choisir," declared Coolmore Australia's general manager Michael Kirwan. "He is a wonderful 'type' whose great performances at Royal Ascot and Newmarket have done more for Australian racing than any horse since Phar Lap.
He has absolutely vindicated the whole shuttle-sire concept which you could say has now turned full circle as Choisir’s grandsire Danehill was one of the pioneering shuttlers and the first to enjoy major success here... Choisir is exactly the type of horse that 'the shuttle' has endeavoured to produce – a horse capable of showcasing the Australian thoroughbred on the world stage.
We
are very gratified to have been able to ensure that Choisir remains accessible
to Australian breeders and that he will also get the chance himself to take up
dual-hemisphere duties at Coolmore in Ireland." |
