The
charity stud and stallion day will be held on July 20th, at the Randwick Betting

Broodmare
owners in Australia have never faced such a vast and diverse collection of high
class stallions to choose from. For many who are yet to make a firm decision,
the next few months promise hours of soul searching and sleepless nights as they
seek the perfect match for their prized matron.
For all the answers and more, come along to the first annual Stud and Stallion
Day where you can meet with all the experts in one location and gain the right
advice.
Many of the leading stud farms in the Hunter Valley will be represented
including global giants Coolmore, Darley and Vinery. The high powered trio offer
some 34 stallions to consider. They range in service fee from $8,250 for Group
One winning juvenile Lujain (USA), all the way up to first season superstar Rock
of Gibraltar (IRE) at $132,000.
Coolmore, Darley and Vinery are responsible for a dazzling array of newcomers
which are sure to win admirers. However, their proven performers offer plenty of
safe options for breeders and include: Carnegie (IRE), ($66,000), Danehill
Dancer (IRE) ($27,500), Hennessy (USA) ($30,250), Langfuhr (Can) ($13,200), Red
Ransom (USA) ($49,500), Royal Academy (USA) ($27,500), Spinning World (USA)
($16,500), Thunder Gulch (USA) ($22,000), etc.
Arrowfield Stud offers a great mix of international bloodlines combined with
leading Aussie bred sires such as Flying Spur ($44,000), Danzero ($26,400) and
Redoute’s Choice ($33,000). Their selection of 10 includes proven and unproven
horses at prices ranging from $60,500 for Dehere (USA) down to $11,000 for
Hurricane Sky, sire of Hong Kong Horse of the Year, Grand Delight.
The Ingham owned Woodlands Stud have enjoyed a tremendous season with Group One
winners Lonhro, Yell, Kusi, Ambulance and Freemason emerging from the lush
paddocks at Denman. The Woodlands roster for 2003 features 10 stallions to suit
all budgets, from champion juvenile Dracula at $8,250 to the mighty Octagonal
(NZ) at $55,000.
Emirates Park Stud produced some terrific results on the track this year,
highlighted by Danewin’s daughter Elegant Fashion taking over as highest stake
earning Australian bred mare. Emirates will stand eight horses this season split
between the Murrurundi home base in the Hunter and their Victorian property at
Digger’s Rest. Secret Savings (USA) tops the list at $27,500, while
under-rated Dexter (GB) offers great value at $3,300.
Other major farms represented at the Stud and Stallion Day include: Baerami
Thoroughbreds, home to Honours List (IRE), Ishiguru (USA) and introducing
Ethereal’s sire Rhythm (USA); Wagga Wagga based Riverdene Stud, home to seven
stallions including prolific winner-getter Marwina and a host of exciting young
prospects; also Inverness Stud, launching the stud career of champion three year
old Universal Prince.
Victorian breeders will also have a strong presence with leading farms Eliza
Park and Chatswood Stud lending their support to the charity day. The pair
account for 15 stallions highlighted by well respected first-timers Bel Esprit
($18,150), Grass Wonder (USA) ($13,750), Invincible Spirit (IRE) ($13,200),
Delago Brom ($8,800) and Planchet ($8,250).
