San Miguel William Inglis and Son Ltd
Classic Yearling Sale (Session Two)
Yearlings
by Danehill’s (USA) freshman son Commands proved extremely popular during the
second session of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, with agent James
Bester securing Lot 180 for $130,000, an athletic filly from Marscay mare
Flannelle.
“She was absolutely the filly of the sale, in fact, the horse of the sale, she
looked like Danehill in every fibre of her body and she is out of a Marscay mare
– a cross that has produced the likes of Catbird and Camarena, for example,”
said Bester.
“There are few better-bred sons of Danehill, and Commands was among
Danehill’s fastest sons. This filly was the finest mover I have seen for years
and that is why trainers such as Paul Perry, Tim Martin, Matthew Smith, John
Morish and others were all bidding on her,” he added.
“The market at this sale is certainly strong for nice horses that catch the
eye,” said Bester, who purchased the filly for an undisclosed client.
The sale, which started on Sunday afternoon, has averaged $29,662 for 205
yearlings sold, with a further 206 horses to be offered on Tuesday.
