Victorian syndicating outfit Slade Bloodstock picked up from where they left off
at last week's Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast, when they snapped
up two lots including the current sale topper at tonight's first session of the
Inglis Premier Sale.
In Queensland, Slade Bloodstock purchased seven lots, including youngsters by
Encosta de Lago, Fasliyev, Canny Lad, Real Quiet, Catbird and Danehill Dancer.
Late this afternoon the Melbourne based husband and wife duo Rob and Corinna
Slade forked out $100,000 for a three quarter brother to this season's exciting
Victorian trained filly Miss Terrain.
A son of the ill fated Snippets, the colt caught the eye of many good judges and
the Slades had to beat out interested parties like Gai Waterhouse and Gary
Portelli to get their star lot.
"We felt he was the colt of the sale," Rob Slade told Cyberhorse
tonight. "He was a great looker and a real standout as a type and with a
pedigree to match."
Slade said the colt would join the powerful Lee Freedman stable, now based at
Rye.
"Lee also thought he was the best colt in the sale," Slade added.
"He thought he was the ideal type of horse who could be back to win the
race next year."
Offered for sale by Scone based Attunga Stud, who were acting as agent for
Copabella Thoroughbreds, the brown colt is just the second foal of the former
talented Melbourne racemare Belle Banne.
The first foal from the Mighty Avalanche mare is the Mick Price trained Miss
Terrain, a winner of the listed Merson Cooper Stakes, this season at two. She is
being aimed at the million dollar Group One Blue Diamond Stakes at her home
track.
Miss Terrain is a daughter of Spartacus, to date the best performed galloper
produced by Snippets, thus making this colt a three quarter relation to the
exciting youngster.
