The
potential of the Magic Millions graduate Charmview was on full display at
Sydney's Randwick meeting when she scored a shock win over the hot favourite
Secret Land in the Lindemans Handicap (1000m).
Having her fourth start for Warwick Farm based trainer Tony Wildman, Charmview
went to the line with too much in hand despite racing greenly when failing to
run straight over the concluding stages.
Bred by Northern Lodge Stud in Victoria, Charmview is by the brilliant shuttling
sire Royal Academy (sire of Bel Esprit etc) and out of the Famous Star mare
Staremma.
She was offered for the sale at the 2002 Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Premier
Sale on the Gold Coast, as part of the Coolmore Australia draft. She was knocked
down for a cool $130,000.
A half sister to the metropolitan winners Pampas Bull and Grandiser, Charmview
was ridden for the second time this afternoon by the talented local hoop Brad
Pengelly.
Wildman and the owners of Charmview will no doubt be one of the more interested
parties at next week's 2003 Premier Sale on the Gold Coast when the filly's half
brother, a chestnut colt by Thunder Gulch, goes under the hammer.
A member of the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft, who are acting as agent for
Northern Lodge Stud, the colt is Super Vobis qualified and will go under the
hammer during the first session as lot number 190.
