 42. Online Audio Streaming for Classic Yearling Sale

15/01/2003

The 2003 San Miguel William Inglis Classic Yearling Sale which gets underway this Sunday at 4pm will for the first time be available in audio via the internet.

Quickstream personnel have been working closely with Inglis IT Manager Ed Andrews to coordinate the process which enables you to listen to the live auction via the internet.

In the past two and a half years the management at William Inglis & Son Ltd have considered audio and video streaming of the sales however to date haven’t been overly satisfied with the quality of picture and the issue of time lapse between the actual live sale and the viewers.

William Inglis’s IT Manager Ed Andrews was very clear on his views when asked to comment about the idea.

"William Inglis & Son Ltd now feel there is merit in the audio streaming as the quality is of a higher standard than ever before and it certainly adds to the appeal of logging on to the website and following the progress of the sale. We do however have concerns with the video streaming as the picture is still very small and in remote and country areas households won’t even be able to download the file."

Reg Inglis Managing Director is very supportive of the audio initiative and supports that rationale of Mr. Andrews.

" In our case we would rather use our resources more effectively than by providing a picture of the sale ring on the website that still doesn’t have the clarity required to enhance the interest in the sale. William Inglis & Son Ltd will certainly remain open minded to the idea of video streaming and look forward to future developments in this area."

We invite you to log onto our website www.inglis.com.au and experience the audio streaming.

The San Miguel William Inglis Classic Yearling Sale commences this Sunday January 19 at 4pm and continues Monday and Tuesday from 10.30am.
