 38. Switch In Time Dies In Queensland

Prolific winner producer Switch In Time has died at stud in Queensland following a prolonged bout of pneumonia.

The 20-year-old import by Kris was transferred to Queensland last year after making his name as one of Australia’s leading sires at Stratheden Stud at Tamworth.

Switch In Time set several records during his stud career that to date has seen him represented by 349 individual winners of 1660 races for earnings of $14.4 million.

He has been the leading sire in NSW by wins for the past seven years, producing winners of more than 100 races and $1 million in prizemoney each season.

In 1996-97 he produced the winners of 220 races, a record for a NSW-based sire.

Switch In Time won six races in the US before he was shipped to Australia to begin his stud career.

His notable winners have included Group and stakes performers Sword, Border Time, King Of Acapulco, Music Switch, Transfer, Heeby Reiby and King Leopold.

Other good winners by Switch In Time have included Horology, Sectional Time, Deferred, Steelswitch, Kylangi, Full Switch, Never Late and Strathpark.
