 34. Coolmore act on the missing Danehill's

14/01/2003

The Australian breeding industry missed out last year on the services of one of the all-time great stallions Danehill.

However Coolmore Stud, ever the enterprising business that they are, have taken a step in a different direction in order to help subsidise the loss.

They have imported 40-50 mares that are in foal to Danehill (Southern hemisphere time) so that there will be Danehill yearlings on the ground ready for the sales next year.

Brett Howard from Coolmore confirmed this morning:

"I'm not sure of the exact number but yes, they have arrived and are already on the farm."
Danehill (Danzig x Razyana) has sired 49 individual Group One winners and his effect on the racing and breeding industry has been world-wide.

In Europe he was the Champion sire of two year-old's four times and a top five active sire for the last 7 years.

In Australia he's been Champion sire four times and the Champion sire of two year-old's five times.
