The
2003 Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions Yearling Sale has been hailed as the best
ever after a record-breaking four select sessions for the Gold Coast-based
company.
For the first time in the 17-year history of the Magic Millions the aggregate
topped $50 million and the average exceeded $90,000.
Magic Millions managing director David Chester said the results were a credit to
the breeders who supported the Magic Millions sale.
"This has been achieved by Magic Millions all in a year when we have had
international tensions and implemented for the first time the x-ray repository
system,” Chester said.
"These results show the x-eay system has given buyers confidence and helped
vendors to achieve a higher price for yearlings with clean x-Rays.
"This sale sets a high benchmark for all other sales.”
Magic Millions principal John Singleton echoed Chester’s delight at the end of
the sale’s four select sessions on January 12.
”We now get the best horses and the best buyers from all over the world, it
keeps going from strength to strength,” said Singleton, who had the honour of
selling the sale topping $900,000 Sunday Silence colt through his Strawberry
Hill Stud.
The first four days of the sale have grossed $50.1 million from 544 of the 702
catalogued lots sold at an average of $92,122.
Another 266 yearlings will be offered at the fifth session on January 14.
