Millions Makes Positive Start

A
full-sister to SAJC Goodwood H. (G1) winner Keeper by perennial leading sire
Danehill sold for $700,000 to top the first session of the Conrad Jupiters Magic
Million Sale on the Gold Coast today.
The buyer was Irish bloodstock agent Adrian Nicholl who outlasted Sydney agent
Tim Boland, acting on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, for the
bay filly.
A full-brother to the top-class two-year old Snowland was purchased by Melbourne
trainer Rick Hore Lacey for $550,000. Consigned by Stratheden Stud the bay colt
becomes the highest price Snippets yearling sold at public auction.
Danehill chipped in again for the day’s second highest priced colt a full
brother to the stakes-placed David Paine-trained filly Sierra Dane.The filly’s
dam Sierra Finch (Diesis) is a daughter of the stakes-placed Alleged mare Ghaiya
a full sister to CCA Oaks (G1) and Mother Goose Stakes (G1) winner Fiesta Gal
and Craven Plate winner and Ostensible which also finished second in the Group 1
AJC Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Overall on the opening day 150 yearlings sold for a gross aggregate of
$14,830,500 at an average of $96,301. This compares favourably to the
corresponding session last year when 103 yearlings sold for an aggregate of
$8,757,500 at an average of $85,024
The pass-in rate increased this year with 48 lots failing to sell in the ring
compared to just 27 last year. The median remained the same at $70,000.
