Singapore is about to enter the world of syndicated racehorse ownership, with the Singapore Turf Club (rather than private enterprise) driving the project. In an initiative designed to boost racehorse ownership on the island republic, the STC has put together a multiple horse/multiple owner package about to be released to the public, reported aapracingandsports.com.au.
Fifty owners will combine to form the Orange Racing Trust, which will share ownership of a group of 5 horses independently selected for them by Magic Millions managing director David Chester. All horses have been purchased by the STC, which acts as promoter & underwriter for the venture. Two have already arrived at Kranji, a third is in quarantine & 2 more remain resting in Queensland until ready for the rigours of training.
The first 2 horses have gone into training - one with premier trainer Malcolm Thwaites & the second with premiership runner-up Laurie Laxon. The STC has launched a new entity Singapore Turf Club Racing Management & appointed 37-year-old Australian Larry Foley to run it.
