Winner For Favorite Trick

With
17 first crop yearlings available at the Conrad Jupiters – Magic Millions
Yearling Sale in 2003, champion two-year old Favorite Trick came up with a
timely first stakes winner when Sun Trick won the US$161,761 Riley Allison
Futurity by 4 1/2 lengths at Sunland Park on Sunday.
It was the eleventh winner from 32 starters for Favorite Trick, which became the
first two-year-old to earn Horse of the Year honours in the U.S. since the great
Secretariat achieved the feat in 1972. Favorite Trick has also sired two
stakes-placed horses, duel Grade 2-stakes placed Tricks Her and two-time
stakes-placed Kickin Kountry. With the year drawing to a close Favorite
Trick’s first crop have earned $523,974.
Sum Trick is the first stakes winner out of the unraced mare Missuma (Procida),
a half sister to 1981 Belmont Stakes winner Summing (Verbatim), and Shuvee H.
(G2) winner One Sum (One For All), which won 12 of her 34 starts in the late
1970’s with earnings of just under US$400,000.
Favorite Trick shuttles between Walmac Farm, Kentucky and Collingrove Stud,
Victoria. His Magic Millions yearlings include;
Lot 107 bay colt ex Rockets Galore (Whiskey Road) a dual Group 3 winner and dam
of 3 winners – family of Rory’s Jester.
Lot 299 bay filly ex Adeewin (Snaadee) – first foal of a brilliantly fast mare
whose dam is a half-sister to Shaftesbury Avenue.
Lot 336 bay colt ex Berberia (Jackson Square) a Group 2 winning half-sister to
the dam of Chattanooga.
Lot 485 bay filly ex Freedom Fields (Bluebird) a Goup 3 winner and dam of the
stakes-placed stayer Liberty Hall.
Lot 565 bay colt ex Jullene (Sir Tristram) dam of 4 winners including the stakes
winners Brackenbury, Rullene and Kilspindie.
Lot 636 brown filly ex Mad Shavirl (Navajo Bird) third foal out of stakes winner
of 9 races.
Lot 671 Bay colt ex Millrich (Rubiton) third foal of a stakes winner of 3 races
and a placegetter in the Golden Slipper Stakes (G1).
