 33. Top Mares Booked To Coolmore New Boys

06/02/2003

Ireland’s Coolmore Stud has released an imposing list of mares booked to be serevd by Group One winners and potential shuttle sires Rock Of Gibraltar and Golan in their first northern hemisphere stud season.

Rock Of Gibraltar, Danehill’s seven time G1 winner, was acclaimed the world champion racehorse of 2002 in last month's International Classifications.

He was retired in the wake of his unlucky defeat in the G1 Breeders' Cup Mile, a decision has been rewarded with a book of mares that includes eight G1 winners, including five classic winners, plus the dams of 10 G1 victors.

Among the G1 winners are Irish 1000 Guineas heroines Marling, Trusted Partner, Hula Angel and Tarascon and the international performers Borgia and Terre A Terre.

Toujours Juste, the dam of Terre A Terre, features among the mares to have already produced G1 winners.

Ohers include the dams of shuttle sires Desert Prince and Desert King, Lady Of Chad, Dress To Thrill, Dark Moondancer and top stayer Persian Punch.

Golan, whose dam Highland Gift is going to Rock Of Gibraltar, will also cover a number of high cvlass mares befitting winner of the 2000 Guineas and King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

Golan’s mares include G1 Prix de l'Abbaye winner Imperial Beauty and Pipalong, successful in the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup, Mona Sella, Legend Maker, Aim For The Top, Pourquoi Pas, Isle de France, Goncharova and Germane.

The dams of four G1 winners will also be covered by Golan.
