One
of the best-bred stallions in the world, Hussonet can be rated the best son of
Mr Prospector to come to Australia.
Hussonet boasts remarkable figures of 24 percent stakeswinners to runners,
including 12 G1 winners to date.
He also boasts 10 individual champions and stakeswinners in both the northern
and southern hemisphere.
Hussonet was purchased privately by Sheikh Mohammed and was trained in the US by
leading conditioner Bill Mott. He won or was placed in all his six starts before
injury hastened his retirement when he was sold to stand at Haras de Pirque in
Chile.
Hussonet quickly stamped himself as an exceptionally dominant stallion being
named Champion 2YO Sire of Chile with his first crop in 1998 and going on to win
the General Sires title in every subsequent year.
In 2002 he commanded the highest fee of any stallion ever to have stood in Chile
and served the largest book (146 mares) of any commercial stallion standing in
Chile.
His champions include Chile’s 2000 Champion 3YO Filly Printemps, who has since
gone to America to win at G2 level and place in G1 company behind US Horse of
the Year Azeri; the G2 winner Seinne who has also won G2 races in California;
and Wild Spirit, Chile’s Champion 3YO Filly of 2002 who was recently relocated
to the Bobby Frankel stable in California.
Hussonet is the leading son (by stakes winners to runners) of the legendary Mr.
Prospector. He is out of the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Sacahuista, who
was also the Champion 3YO Filly of her generation in the US.
Arrowfield has purchased Hussonet outright from his Chilean owners and the
stallion will arrive at Arrowfield in early March after being in quarantine in
California.
His fee will be $24,750 (inc GST.)
