 11. Blu Tusmani Stays At Glenlogan Park

01/02/2003

Saturday, 1 February 2003: The emergence of Murphy’s Blu Boy as Australia’s most exciting two-year-old has brought a quick change of plans for his sire Blu Tusmani.

Plans to transfer or sell Blu Tusmani had been shelved and he will remain at Queensland's Glenlogan Park Stud for at least another season despite some substantial offers for the stallion from other studs.

Blu Tusmani has stood at Glenlogan Park for three years but was short-listed for a new home before Murphy’s Blu Boy came on the scene.

Glenlogan Park principal Jon Haseler said he had received 30 bookings for Blue Tusmani from broodmare owners since Murphy’s Blu Boy’s exceptional last start win at Caulfield.

Blue Tusmani stood at Glenlogan Park last spring for $3500 but his 2003 service fee will be reviewed after Murphy’s Blu Boy runs in the Blue Diamond Stakes on February 22.

In his first two seasons Blu Tusmani served books of 40 mares each year but covered only 30 mares last spring.

Glenlogan Park, the birthplace of Murphy’s Blu Boy, is favoured to win the battle for a 49 percent share in the brilliant youngster.

Haseler has confirmed that he has offered $2 million for the minority share in Murphy's Blu Boy.

The massive offer rivals other offers owner-trainer Merv Hicks has received from other studs bidding to buy the colt outright.

Those bids have been received from two other Queensland nurseries - Clear Mountain Stud at Warwick and Oaklands Stud at Toowoomba.

Haseler believes he has the inside running to finalise a deal with Hicks as Murphy’s Blu Boy was bred at Glenlogan Park and was raised on the property for 18 months.
