Seven
time Group winning stallion General Nediym will head to a new home in the 2003
breeding season.
General Nediym whose first crop are two year old’s and going very well stood
his first season at stud in 2000 at owner/ breeder Ron Ashdown’s Glengarry
Stud in Queensland before spending the last two breeding seasons at Eliza Park
Stud in Victoria where he has stood at a service fee of $9,500,
However next season General Nediym will move to Ashdown’s daughter Kate’s
property Ballymore Thoroughbreds at Blandford in the Hunter Valley in New South
Wales.
Ballymore Thoroughbreds is run by Sean and Kate Darcy and “The General” will
be the first stallion to stand at the couple’s property which is about 4
kilometres from Emirates Park.
Ashdown indicated that the stallion was likely to have an increase in service
fee for the next breeding season and said it would be at least $12,500 plus
G.S.T. but was unlikely to exceed $20,000 including G.S.T.
General Nediym’s progeny to race to date include the Group 2 Maribyrnong Plate
winner Ra Sun and last Saturday’s Eagle Farm winner Regimental Gal but Ashdown
has been told by trainer’s Lee Freedman and Gerald Ryan that they are
expecting very big things from a couple of the stallion’s unraced progeny in
their stables.
