 4. Sangster and Coolmore Back Adelaide Carnival

08/8/2003

After yesterday’s announcement of an expanded Adelaide Magic Millions Carnival next February, breeding powerhouses Swettenham Stud and Coolmore Stud have also thrown their considerable weight behind Adelaide.

Swettenham Stud Australian Director Adam Sangster announced today that the $250,000 Swettenham Stud Stakes will now be run on the 25th of February 2004.

This move bolsters the midweek Morphetville Program which also carries South Australia’s richest race, the $400,000 Adelaide Magic Millions.

We are extremely pleased for the Swettenham Stud Stakes to join the Magic Millions Classic to form one of the feature racedays in the country, Sangster said.

Our family is delighted to take part in the exciting new Magic Millions Adelaide Carnival, a great new initiative fronted by John Singleton.

In addition to this news, James Bester of Coolmore Stud has also announced that it will sponsor a new event on the Magic Millions card, likely to be a 1600m event for three year-old fillies.

We have agreed to run a race in Adelaide to help further boost the Adelaide Magic Millions Carnival, said Bester.

Things are still being negotiated but we are delighted to help Magic Millions in their efforts in Adelaide.
