 14. Perth horses in training sale

Local and overseas buyers are set to converge on Perth next month when the popular and highly successful Perth Horses in Training Sale in held at Belmont.


Sixty seven well bred two-year-olds will be put through their paces at the Belmont Racecourse on the morning of (Tuesday) September 23. Following lunch the youngsters will be put through the ring.


Magic Millions Horse in Training Sales have proven popular with buyers who are on the look out for a ready made racehorse for the new season. The sales take out plenty of the guess work for buyers ensuring they have a much better chance of success with the purchase on the track.


Most of the leading local sires are represented in the sale including Bletchley Park, Carry a Smile, Don’t Say Halo, Dr Johnson, Fimiston, Key Business, Laranto, Lomond Bay, Magic of Money, Metal Storm, Old Spice, Scenic, Speed Week and Star Pak.


As well as the local siring stars, proven interstate stallions with two-year-olds in the auction include Bellotto, Brief Truce, Desert King, Desert Sun, Devaraja, Grand Lodge, Honour and Glory, Hurricane Sky, Made of Gold, Picnicker, Red Ransom, Secret Savings, Strategic and Thunder Gulch. Kiwi sires are there too in form of Bahhare, Deputy Governor and Senor Pete.

Magic Millions Perth Manager Chris Tidy said the Perth Horses in Training Sale had quickly established itself as a proven winner producing sale and he is looking forward to this year’s edition.


The Horses in Training catalogue this year is one of the strongest ever to come out of Western Australia, Tidy noted of the range of classy entries.


Two two-year-olds by the ill fated Metal Storm are sure to attract plenty of attention. At February’s record breaking Perth Yearling Sale progeny of Metal Storm were the subject of fierce bidding.


The sale will be held at Tuesday September 23. Breeze ups will be held at Belmont from 10am. Selling at the same venue will begin at 1.30pm. Breeze up programs will be available on the day and those not able to be at the track for the breeze ups can view videos of the work outs during lunch at Belmont.


Following the Horses in Training Sale the action in the ring continues when nearly 40 more thoroughbreds will be offered as part of the Magic Millions Perth Spring Thoroughbred Sale.


Yearlings, two-year-olds, racehorses and broodmares will all go under the hammer.


On offer are broodmares by Don’t Say Halo, Lord of the Dance, Noble Commander, Polish Blue, Poliuto and Statoblest. Covering sires include Chanteclair, Dr Johnson and Umah.


There are also yearlings by exciting young sire Dr Johnson and two-year-olds by popular locals Key Business, Palace Reign and Statoblest.


One of the better performed racehorses in the sale is the well bred and multiple city winning Rory’s Jester mare Rock ‘n’ Ruby. From a proven international black type family the five time winner is a half sister to two winners and is from the well bred Rubiton mare Satan’s Ruby.


The Spring Thoroughbred Sale will follow the Horses in Training Sale and is expected to kick off at about 3pm.
