Glenlogan
Park Stud studmaster John Haseler who had plenty to smile about during this
years Brisbane Winter Carnival again had a very big smile on his face after last
nights Queensland Thoroughbred Racing Awards.
While his stud was not directly honoured with any awards last night, Haseler
shared in the glory of the dead heat in the Brisbane Turf Club & Queensland
Racehorse Owners Association Champion Horse of The Year award which was won by
Show A Heart and Falvelon.
Show A Heart (H 1997 Brave Warrior-Miss Sandman) who won four Group 1 races
during his racing career is settling in well to his first season at stud at
Glenlogan Park where the stud closed off his book at 120 mares for his first
season after a great year on the track where he won twice at Group 1 level in
the Toorak Handicap 1600m at Caulfield last Spring and then at his last race
start won the Stradbroke Handicap 1400m at Eagle Farm beating home Falvelon
which followed a gallant second in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 behind Falvelon.
Falvelon (H 1996 Alannon-Devil’s Zephyr) last night made it three wins in a
row in the Queensland Horse of The Year Awards as a result of his second Group 1
race at this years Brisbane Winter Carnival when he made it back to back wins in
the Doomben 10,0000 1350m beating home Show A Heart which was followed by his
great second to Show A Heart in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap after he had
scored his second win in the Hong Kong Sprint 1000m last December.
Glenlogan Park stood Falvelon’s ill fated sire Alannon at stud where he sadly
only served one season prior to his premature death and Haseler has negotiated
for Falvelon to stand at Glenlogan Park when he is retired to stud in 2003 where
he will again link up with his racetrack rival Show A Heart.
Haseler said “It was great for these two horses to quinella the Doomben 10,000
and Stradbroke and it is a great thrill for them to dead heat for Horse Of The
Year.”
