 11. Darley Stallions Settle Into Routine

03/09/2002

After an extended stay at Eastern Creek Quarantine Station, Darley Stud’s Fantastic Light, Xaar and Lujain arrived at Collingrove Stud on August 30,’ reported Olly Tate, manager of Darley Australia to darleystallions.com.

‘All three look well and seem happy in their new surroundings. Carnegie arrived on Tuesday night from Melbourne and is in good order.’ The stallions began covering on Sunday, September 1.

Meanwhile Darley stallion King’s Best, who was to have returned to Australia this year, has recovered well from the surgery to his off fore and, after a convalescing at Dalham Hall, is now back in Ireland at Kildangan Stud, reported Kildangan’s managing director Joe Osborne.

'We are delighted at how well King's Best has recovered from his surgery,’ said Osborne. ‘He has been an excellent patient and is now exercising and grazing in hand. If he continues to progress at this rate I see no problem with him returning to normal stallion duties for the 2003 season.'

King's Best has an outstanding first crop of foals including progeny out of Haydock Sprint Cup (G1) and Prix Maurice de Gheest (G1) winner Cherokee Rose, Epsom Oaks (G1) winner Intrepidity, Park Express, Barger and Glenarff.
