Vinery stallions Gilded Time, Red Ransom and Langfuhr enjoyed plenty of success
around the world last weekend.
In England on Saturday. Gilded Time's son Crystal Castle continued his
outstanding form with a win in the Group 2 Brunwick Diaden Stakes over 6
furlongs at Ascot.
The win brought up the hat-trick for the four-year-old and it was his third
stakes success after winning the Group 3 Prix de Cabourg at two and then the
Group 3 Prix de Meautry on his previous start.
Trainer John Hammond said next stop will be Dubai later in the year for the
Golden Shaneen and then a crack at the Breeder's Cup Sprint next season.
On the same card Red Ransom's 2-year-old daughter Casual Look finished runner-up
behind the smart Soviet Song by Marju in the Group 1 Meon Valley Stud Fillies
Mile.
After wining her maiden by eight lengths, Casual Look was game in defeat when
beaten a length and a half by Soviet Song. At her previous outing, Casual Look
annihilated her rivals by eight lengths winning her maiden race. Racing Post
reported she is a big strong filly with plenty of size and scope and is
obviously improving and will stay further next year and will be aimed at the
1000 Guineas in May.
Another young filly with a bright future is Shalang. The John Hawkes - trained
three year old by Langfuhr charged home from the tail of the field to grab third
behind the colts Beaver and Monte Grande in the Listed Dulcify Handicap at
Randwick last Saturday.
She is shaping as one of the leading chances in the up and coming fillies races
over the spring. A $160,000 Easter Sale purchase last year, Shalang is by the
hot young grand-son of Danzig who is enjoying plenty of success of late.
He is the sire of smart galloper and Group 1 winner Imperial Gesture who will
contest the $US750,000 Grade One Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park over 1700m this
weekend while the likes of Frightening and Broadband should be competitive over
the weekend in Melbourne.
Langfuhr also has Stakes winning 2-Y-O Wando going for the Group 2 Grey Stakes
over the weekend at Woodbine and with 10 2-Y-O winners in North America this
year, his future looks bright and it is no wonder he is fully booked out at
Vinery Australia this season.
