 35. Railway Stakes quinella for Magic Millions

27/11/2002

Western Australia's Premier mile and richest race, The Group One Railway Stakes (1600m) was contested at Perth's Ascot racecourse on Saturday.

The results proved the West Australian bred horses offered through the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale are all class.

Three Magic Millions graduates featured, with a quinella for first and second, and a fifth placing. These impressive performers are graduates of the only four yearling sales ever conducted by Magic Millions in Perth.

The $500,000 Group One race was won by Old Fashion (Metal Storm - Matilda Waltz) [purchsed in 1999 for $7,000, consigned by Mungrup Stud, bought and trained by Vernon Brockman]. Old Fashion has now returned his owners close to $700,000, proving a great investment.

Second place went to the very talented Hardrada (Marooned - Marrich Bay) [purchased in 2001 for $30,000, consigned by Woodbridge Thoroughbreds, bought and trained by Lou Luciani].

Securing a well fought fifth in the race was Magic Millions graduate, Main Stage (Poliuto - Key Elevation) [purchsed in 1999 for $11,000, consigned by St. Jude Bloodstock, bought and trained by Alan Taylor].

Catalogues for the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale will be available in mid-January 2003.
