Congratulations
to the Inverness Stud team on the birth of their headline making colt foal, a
full brother to the now retired champion Sunline.
No doubt the little fellow's career will be followed with great interest by the
media, particularly when it comes yearling sale time in 2004.
But for those who can’t wait until then, we do have a close relation to the
great mare scheduled to go under the hammer at Easter next year. Widden Stud as
agent will offer a bay filly by Sunline's sire Desert Sun (GB) from Sunny Song,
an unraced half-sister to Sunline.
Sunny Song was bred at Inverness Stud, the result of a mating between Sunline's
dam Songline (NZ) and the stud's own stallion Simonstad (NZ).
At $100,000, she was the top priced lot at the 1999 Classic Yearling Sale in the
wake of Sunline's first foray to Sydney in which she blitzed the locals and gave
promise of better things to come.
Sadly for Sunny Song's new owners, Domeland Pty Ltd., the filly suffered an
early injury to her hock and never set foot on a racecourse, so we shall never
know whether she had any of the family ability.
When it became apparent that a stud career was going to be Sunny Song's only
option, the logical partner was of course Desert Sun (GB).
The result being a lengthy, well grown bay filly that will be one of the most
talked about youngsters at Easter 2003.
