This coming Friday and Sunday sees Scone, the acknowledged thoroughbred breeding capital of Australia, host the richest country race meeting in New South Wales and a yearling sale which rivals a number of interstate metropolitan sales in quality and values.

The race carnival on Friday, could see connections of winners and placegetters take home more than half a million dollars in prize money and bonuses. The rewards are made up of $434,350 in prize money and trophies and a $100,000 bonus which is to be split up by the connections of horses with the one trainer winning three of the races including the Peptech Scone Cup on the eight event program.

The major highlights of the racing are to be the $50,000 Scone Cup, $204,000 Inglis Challenge for two-year-olds, the $85,000 William Inglis Hunter Thoroughbred Breeders Dark Jewel Classic - a stakes race for fillies and mares - and the $40,000 Emirates Park Open Quality Handicap.

Competing for the rewards will be some of Australia's leading trainers including Gai Waterhouse (nine possible runners), Graeme Rogerson (fifteen), John Hawkes, Ron Quinton, Bill Mitchell, Max Lees, Paul Perry and Sterling Smith.
