Queensland-bred Tequila Knowledge gave her sire Knowledge his first Black Type winner when she won the Listed Ken Russell Memorial at the Gold Coast on May 11.

The Michael Moroney-trained filly went into the race with good Melbourne form with a win at Sandown at her most recent start, and could be set for an international racing career if the money is right.

Tequila Knowledge’s immediate goal is the G1 QTC Sires Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm on June 1.

Tequila Knowledge was bred by Windemere Stud at Toowoomba and made $40,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sales last year. She is from the imported Mill Reef mare Lequilla who has the good record of eight foals to race for seven winners.

Tequila Knowledge's second dam Mariella (by Sir Gaylord) was the champion Italian filly of 1980.

Knowledge, a winner of the G1 VRC Blue Diamond Stakes, stood initially at Bahram Stud and is now located at Glen Avon Lodge at Southbrook. He service fee is $3,850.

The beautifully bred stallion Rocket To Mars did not have the best of luck on the racecourse, but he can make up for that as a sire.

The well bred son of Marscay and Rory's Jester's half sister Sushi Rocket stands at Noble Park Stud at Innisplain near Beaudesert.

He has a very smart first crop two year-old in Skytripper, who won at Eagle Farm and then followed up with a tough second beaten a short head at the same track on Sunday.

Trainer Clarry Connors has a number of the Rocket To Mars progeny in his stable and he makes know secret of the fact that he particularly likes them.

"They're all good types with plenty of bone, and all of them have won trials for me," Conners said. "They're a bit immature but will make into very smart late two year-olds and three year-olds".

Rocket To Mars had his racing career cut short by injury, but he looks as though he may very well carry on the good stud record of sons of Marscay.

THIRD in the Ken Russell Memorial was the lightly raced Koochie, by Dantibes from Munum Miss (by Spritely Knight).

John Wallace trains this very promising gelding whose record is now four starts for a win and three placings.

Dantibes is having a very good season, as he is also represented by the G3 Powerhouse Classic winner Tellson, who followed that win with a good effort in the G2 Grand Prix Stakes on May 12.

THE sire Distinctly North died in Italy this week but that takes nothing away from the fact that the G2 Grand Prix Stakes winner Distinctly Secret was sired in Queensland.

The New Zealand-owned and trained Distinctly Secret made his Queensland debut in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas, and had a rough trip. He showed that he had recovered from that run with a tremendous effort to win the Grand Prix .

Distinctly North, a representative of the Northern Dancer male line, stood at Glenlogan Park Stud at Beaudesert for several seasons.
