 06. Japan Season For Lion Hunter?

01/05/2002

Boom young sire Lion Hunter is poised to join the reverse shuttle brigade by standing in Japan in 2003.

Negotiations are proceeding between Lion Hunter’s Queensland base Oaklands Stud and Japan’s East Stud for a reverse shuttle arrangements.

Lion Hunter is a syndicated stallion and no decision can be made without a vote of all shareholders passing a resolution to take up the offer.

Lion Hunter would be in elite company at East Stud where the 18-strong stallion roster includes Coolmore’s shuttle stallion Spinning World.

The Japanese negotiations preclude reports of a recent substantial offer from a  Hunter valley stud to secure Lion Hunter from oaklands for the coming spring season.

Lion Hunter served over 190 mares at Oaklands Stud last season! And already has over 100 mares booked to him this season at his 2002 fee of $15,000.

Lion Hunter has made a great start with his first progeny racing this season, being sixth on the two-year-old sires list with six individual winners of seven races from 21 runners.
