Inglis Graduates gained success in six Black Type events over the past week, spreading their winning ways to Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. The star performers were MR BUREAUCRAT (1997 Classic $16,000), FIRETAINE (1998 Christmas Thoroughbred $5,000), FOUARDEE (1999 Classic $36,000), FUJI DANCER (2001 Premier $40,000), PRINCESA (1998 Easter Weanling $400,000) and GOODNIK (2001 Autumn $6,000).
The winning six represent a variety of sales and price ranges, claiming their victories in an equally broad spectrum of events. The Warwick Hailes trained gelding Mr Bureaucrat landed the A.D. Hollindale Cup Gr 2 at the Gold Coast, making it back to back weight-for-age wins and placing himself right into contention for the upcoming Doomben Cup.
Hardy sprinter Fouardee took the QTC Dr John Power Handicap L at Eagle Farm, while blue blooded mare Princesa won the aptly named VRC Straight Six L at Flemington. For Princesa it was a first stakes-win, making her one of the most valuable mares in training, being by Danehill (USA) from the Group One winner Kapchat. At $400,000, she holds the notable distinction of being the highest priced weanling ever sold at public auction in Australia.
Smart two year old Fuji Dancer raced to a stylish win in the VRC Gibson Carmichael Stakes L at Flemington. On the other side of Bass Strait, the bargain priced juvenile Goodnik showed plenty of fight to win the TRC Cascade Classic L at Elwick.
Last but not least was the superbly bred stayer Firetaine, a full brother to Villiers Stakes winner Arletty and three-quarter brother to Group One winning filly Sixty Seconds. He emerged as an Adelaide Cup hope with a narrow win in the SAJC Carlton Draught Stakes Gr 3 at Morphettville.
