Prolific winner-getter Switch In Time will transfer from the Marheine family's Stratheden Stud,Tamworth to Ian Crompton's Westhaven Park Stud at Southbrook in Queensland's Darling Downs region.
SWITCH IN TIME
Retired to stud at Stratheden in 1987, Switch In Time has sired over 300 winners of
1400 races with earnings of over $12.9 million. His star performer has been the SAJC Goodwood Handicap (G1) winner Sword however Switch In Time has built his reputation on siring tough, sound, consistent racehorses.
A more than competent racehorse, Switch In Time won six allowance races on the highly competitive New York circuit. A son of the champion racehorse and sire Kris (Sharpen Up), Switch in Time is a half-brother to 8 winners including stakes winners My Frankly (Rheingold), Additional Risk (Ahonoora), and Comfort And Style (Be My Guest).
The decision by the Marheines to concentrate more on breeding a select broodmare band to the most commercial stallions in the State resulted in the decision to transfer Switch In Time. Stratheden Stud’s champion broodmare Sommes Sound (USA), dam of multiple Group 1 winners Assertive Lad and Assertive Lass, was responsible for the $1.5 million Easter Yearling sales-topper, the highest price ever for a yearling filly in Australia.
