International breeding giant Coolmore has announced a roster of 14 shuttle stallions for its Hunter Valley property next spring.
Most interest in the roster focuses on the fee set for Galileo, the champion son of Sadler’s Wells who is by far the most significant new addition to the list.
Galileo will serve his first Australian season at a fee of $55,000 including GST, only Danehill and Kentucky Derby winner Fusaicihi Pegasus commanding higher fees.
Danehill’s fee is once again advertised as private, but it’s generally accepted that it will cost $200,000 to get an outside mare to the champion sire.
Fusaicihi Pegasus will return for his second Australian season at a fee of $110,000.
Other newcomers to the Coolmore roster this spring are .Danehill’s brilliant son Mozart, Danzig’s Group winner Mull Of Kintyyre and the overdue return of Royal Academy, meeting the demand for him created by his outstanding success rate in both hemispheres over the last 12 months.
They take the place of the notable trio Woodman, Hennessy and Honour And Glory at the Jerry’s Plains property, who are being given a year off from Australian duties.
Foxhound is also missing from the Coolmore roster but he will still return to Australia this year to stand in Victoria.
The other stallions returning to Coolmore this year are Desert King, Fasliyev, High Yield, King Of Kings, Orpen, Peintre Celebre, Spinning World and Thunder Gulch.
The full Coolmore service fee list, including GST, is:
Danehil (Private); Desert King ($13,750); Fasliyev ($27,500); Fusaichi Pegasus ($110,000); Galileo ($55,000); High Yield (22,000); King Of Kings ($16,500); Mozart ($49,500); Mull Of Kintyre ($7700); Orpen ($11,000); Peintre Celebre ($35,750); Royal Academy ($30,250); Spinning World ($19,250); Thunder Gulch ($27,500).
