 25. Inglis Graduates in Hong Kong

06/05/2002

Master Marauder, a three year old half-brother to former handy stakes-winning stayer Darbaas by Danewin, notched his first win at Sha Tin last Wednesday.
The John Moore trained runner (2000 Easter Sales, $200,000) has a reputation for being a tad high strung, but overcame his pre-race nerves to win in good fashion.

"He has been very genuine, despite the fact he gets so hot before his races, but it's nice to get the first win out him," said Moore.

"He doesn't help himself by getting stirred up in the parade but Anton Marcus used his one gate today to hold the fence and had a nice run all the way."

Shane Dye and David Hayes combined to take the opening griffin event at Sha Tin yesterday with SPEEDY EXPRESS (2001 Classic $45,000).

The Snippets colt started a hot favourite on the strength of his debut second to highly rated griffin HIDDEN DRAGON (Danehill x Ballroom Babe).

Speedy Express is the first foal of the Crown Jester mare Jestress, a former handy racemare who gained Black Type when placed in the AJC Keith Mackay Handicap.
