Three leading South Australian Studs in Lindsay Park, Kambula and Lakewood studs have joined forces to shuttle Indian Danehill from The Irish National Stud. It is a major coup for the South Australian bloodstock industry to secure a beautifully bred, Group One winning son of the phenomenal Danehill.
Lakewood Studs Peter Liston instigated the interest in Indian Danehill and he was quick to realize the best way to secure such an outstanding prospect was to use the bipartisan approach, so successfully used in New Zealand in recent years. Brian and David Toole of Kambula Stud were full of support for the venture and Lindsay Park has shown their ongoing commitment and confidence in the breeding industry.
“Lindsay Park are delighted to have the opportunity to stand such a high class stallion prospect in Indian Danehill on behalf of the syndicate. It is well publicised that we are having a dispersal sale and Indian Danehill is an integral part of the new direction our breeding program is undertaking,” said Mark Pilkington, Lindsay Park’s Bloodstock Manager.
Indian Danehill was a high-class racehorse winning three Group races including the Group 1 Prix Danay and a further three Group 1 placings.
His dam Danse Indienne by Green Dancer from a previous mating to Danehill delivered a potential top class two year old in Indian Jones whose victory in the Group 3 Prix La Rochette at his first start looked so impressive that he started odds on in the Group 1 Grand Criterium, but he had to be destroyed after sustaining a fatal injury to his cannon.
Danse Indienne was Wertheimer bred and is a half sister the group 1 winner Antheus and the group 3 winner Alexandria the dam of the group 1 winner Poliglote. No less significant, Dans Indienne is a three parts sister to Aryenne by Green Dancer out of Americaine, a duel group 1 winner who produced the highly successful Quest for Fame.
Indian Danehill was bred by Baron Edouard de Rothschild at the famed Ballymacoll Stud breeders of no less then 22 group 1 winners including Spectrum, Golan, Sun Princess, Pilsudski and trained in France by Andre Fabre.
Following his successful racing career Indian Danehill retired to The Irish National Stud where he has been supported by the leading breeders in Europe, his first book of mares include Group 1 winners Sought Out, Marwell, group and stakes winners Spring Daffodil, Cydalia, Athens Belle, March Star, and half sisters to group 1 winners Hellenic, Assessor, Lavinia Fontana, Balla Cove, Sun Princess.
Indian Danehill will stand at Lindsay Park Stud at a fee of $9,000 plus GST.
