Woodlands announce fee for Viscount
Woodlands Stud has announced that Champion Juvenile Viscount will stand his first season at a fee of $27,500 (including GST) at Jack and Bob Ingham’s Denman showpiece. Viscount (Quest for Fame(GB)-Antwerp) is the winner of $1,378,820 from 17 starts and has the impressive record of 6 wins (3 at Group 1 and 1 each at Group 2 and Group 3 level), three seconds and two thirds. Whilst his group wins were impressive, Viscount probably ran one of his finest races in defeat when third in the 2001 W S Cox Plate behind Northerly and Sunline. Viscount joins the impressive stallion roster at Woodlands, Denman which includes his sire Quest for Fame, his close relation Octagonal, Canny Lad, Commands, Desert Prince and Grand Lodge. Woodlands, Cootamundra also has an impressive stallion roster comprising Strategic, Dracula and Over.
Trainer disqualified for six months
Trainer Hunter Kilner has pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(b)(ii) in that as the trainer of Redscay, he administered to that gelding Largactil, containing the prohibited substance Chlorpromazine, the metabolite of which was detected in the urine sample taken from Redscay after it won at Grafton on 4 March. Mr Kilner was subsequently disqualified for six months and was granted 7 days in which to remove horses in his care from his stables. Redscay was disqualified from the race under AR177.
NSWROA Australian member for IROA
The NSW Racehorse Owners Association (NSWROA) has been invited to become the Australian member of the International Racehorse Owners Association (IROA). Mr Benedict Chan, the Vice President of NSWROA was elected to the Executive Council of IROA. The IROA had its inaugural meeting in India from 28 February to 1 March. Founder member nations are Argentina, Australia, France, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Philipines, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States.
Lonhro to miss Autumn Carnival
Lonhro, the outstanding three-year-old youngster by Octagonal, is being spelled after failing to recover from a minor respiratory complaint. Lonhro is now expected to resume his career in the spring with the Group 1 W S Cox Plate his main target.
Magic Millions Gold Coast Premier Sale
The new format Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale was conducted recently and has been hailed as an outstanding success with a 38% increase from last years Superbowl Sale. The total sale aggregate was $2,515,000. The top lot of the sale was $90,000 for Lot 133 a chestnut colt by General Nediym out of Rose Country

Dehere to Return to Australia
Arrowfield Stud has announced that Dehere, who is owned by the Japanese Breeders’ Association (JBBA) will be returning to Australia to stand the 2002 southern hemisphere season. Dehere (Deputy Minister-Sister Dot) is the sire of 12 stakes winners in Australia to date including the Golden Slipper winner Belle du Jour and the Golden Slipper placegetter and recent stakes winner Red Hannigan. Other stakes winners by Dehere are The Man, Andrella, De Valmont, Russian Caravan and St Therese. Dehere’s 2002
southern hemisphere service fee has not been set.
