Facts and figures about the Ranvet Stakes (2000m)
to be run at Rosehill on Saturday;-
* First run in 1903.
* Until 1987 the race was known as the Rawson Stakes, then up until 1991 was known as the Segenhoe Stakes.
* Past winners include Poseidon (1908), Furious (1923), Peter Pan (1935), Bernborough (1946), Tulloch (1958), Gunsynd (1971 and 1973), Hyperno (1981) Beau Zam (1988-89) and Tie The Knot (2000-01).
* Tie The Knot is aiming for a third consecutive win in the Ranvet Stakes, a feat no other horse has managed to accomplish.
* Tie The Knot crossed the line first in 1999 but was relegated to second on protest.
* Ten horses including Tie The Knot have won the Ranvet Stakes on two occasions;- Malt King (1911-12), Limerick (1927-28), Lough Neagh (1936-37), Columnist (1947-48), Wenona Girl (1961, `64), Sky High (1962-63), Gunsynd (1971, `73), Marceau (1978-79), Beau Zam (1988-89) and Tie The Knot (2000-01).
* Turf legend TJ Smith trained 12 Ranvet Stakes winners and his daughter Gai Waterhouse has continued adding to the family success in the race winning with Stony Bay in 1995 and Electronic in 1996. Waterhouse is this year represented by the current Colin Stephens and Metropolitan Hcp titleholder Dress Circle.
* Since 1980, four 3yos have won, eight 4yos, six 5yos, three 6yos and one 7-year old.
* Five horses over the last 20 years have managed to complete the Ranvet Stakes-BMW double: Alibhai (1985), Myocard (1987), Beau Zam (1988), Stony Bay (1995) and Tie The Knot completed the double in 2000.
