MM Graduates Take Out Gr1 Canterbury Gns & Gr1 Futurity Stks

04/03/2002

The Gai Waterhouse trained CARNEGIE EXPRESS (by Carnegie from Honeymoon Express), won the Group One $400,000 Canterbury Guineas (1900m) last night. Carnegie Express now has five wins from just six starts with over $373,000 in earnings.

Carnegie Express beat Pentastic by two and a quarter lengths, with Another Warrior third. A protest alleging interference at the 500m mark was dismissed by stewards.

Waterhouse said Carnegie Express would now go on to the AJC Australian Derby at Randwick.

Carnegie Express was sold at the Magic Millions 2000 Yearling sale for $45,000 to syndicator Harry Lawton
Rick Hore-Lacy's DASH FOR CASH recorded another impressive Group One victory in the $400,000 Group One Futurity Stakes yesterday. The top class colt has gone from strength to strength since his return to Melbourne, winning the Australia Day Vase, the Debonair Stakes and the Cadbury Guineas before yesterday's success.
Dash For Cash will have one more run before contesting the $2.5million Doncaster Hcp at Randwick on 30 March.

Dash For Cash was a $75,000 purchase at the 2000 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
