Make Me a Miracle, Swing and Mist, Mukareena

04/03/2002

Inglis Graduates narrowly missed taking all three feature events at the Canberra Black Opal meeting on Saturday. Popular local trainer Barbara Joseph scored a big win in the Gundaroo Stud Canberra Guineas with promising three year old SWING AND MIST, a $25,000 purchase from the 2000 Australian Breeze Up Sale.
Her speedy juvenile MUKAREENA tried his heart out in the Black Opal Stakes Gr 3 but in the end had to be content with second behind Planchet. The talented youngster has now won nearly $100,000, a fabulous return on his modest purchase price of $12,000 at the 2001 Classic Yearling Sale.
The John Hawkes trained four year old MAKE ME A MIRACLE (1999 Easter $130,000) landed his first stakes event when taking the National Sprint L. He is the second stakes-winner for his sire Flying Spur in the space of a week.
