Inglis Skyline Trifecta

04/03/2002

Outstanding colt CHOISIR (2001 Classic $55,000) never got out of second gear at Canterbury on Saturday night, cruising past the improving EMERGING STAR (2001 Easter $180,000) to win the STC Skyline Stakes Gr 3 in a working gallop. Inexperienced CHARLIE BUB (2001 Easter $40,000) battled on nicely for third, to bring up an Inglis trifecta.

Winning trainer Paul Perry was justifiably thrilled with Choisir's effort and plans to run the colt in a fortnight in the STC Pago Pago Stakes Gr 2, before backing him up a week later in the Golden Slipper. It's a proven plan that worked beautifully earlier in the year when the colt scored a brilliant win in the $610,000 Inglis Classic coming off a seven day back up.
"He just gives you that unbelievable feel, like a really good horse," declared an elated Len Beasley, and he should know having won the 2000 Golden Slipper on Belle du Jour.
