 42. Plenty of Highlights in Weanling Sale

A record number of 335 weanling entries is sure to provide an exciting opening day for Victoria's bloodstock extravaganza, the June Weanling and Thoroughbred Sale (June 23, 25 & 26).


The weanling section is brimming with highlights and the 10 youngsters mentioned below give an insight to the overall quality that buyers can expect this year.

Lot 81, colt by Desert Sun (GB) from stakes-winner Sound Gold (NZ), dam of South African stakes-winner Star Attack.

Lot 89, filly by Northern Drake, half-sister to stakes-winner Little Miss Marnie. 

Lot 93, colt by Redoute's Choice from stakes-winner Stitches.

Lot 99, filly by Fasliyev (USA), first foal of Kingmambo mare Swing Queen (USA) (purchased for $260,000 at 2001 Australian Broodmare Sale).

Lot 117, colt by Jade Robbery (USA), half-brother to stakes-winner Crazy Neaux, from stakes-winner Twisted Logic.

Lot 119, filly by royally bred first season sire Portland Pirate (Zabeel x Spirit of Kingston), half-sister to Group Two winner Delinquent, from the fabulous Eau d'Etoile family.

Lot 137, colt by Lacryma Cristi (IRE), half-brother to talented stakes-placed juvenile Top Echelon, a fighting second in the Group One T.J. Smith Stakes.

Lot 174, filly by Danehill's Irish bred first season son Great Dane (IRE), half-sister to stakes-winner Oh Blue Angel.

Lot 184, colt by proven US sire Marquetry (USA) from stakes-winner Bright Side.

Lot 282, filly by Shovhog from stakes-winner Law of Logic.
