 34. Stormcat Academy on the Rise in Sydney

12/06/2002

Collingrove Stud born and raised three-year-old Stormcat Academy sent seasoned Sydney racegoers into a spin when he scored a dashing win in the Glencore Australia Country Cash 1st 3YO Final at Randwick on Saturday.
A three-year-old gelding by Royal Academy, Stormcat Academy was bred by the Sangster family's Swettenham Stud and was sold by Collingrove Stud as a yearling.

Now in the stables of leading Musswellbrook mentor Pat Farrell the gelding scored his sixth career win in great fashion.

After being held up behind runners for much of the race Stormcat Academy looked no chance, but Lenny Beasley was able to switch the gelding across heels and the outside of the field. From that point the results was never in danger.

The gelding, who is from the Zabaleta mare Cotton Bay, scorched the turf over the concluding stages to draw clear of a nice bunch of up and coming gallopers.

Farrell has highlighted some feature races for Stormcat Academy in the next couple of months. His next major assignment is expected to come in the Pacesetter Stakes at Gosford on Thursday week.

Now having won his connections over $75,000 the best of Stormcat Academy is definitely still to come.
